Expert Analysis
Steve Quattrocchi | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the biggest transfers into Kentucky before the season, Jung is an excellent shot blocker and has strong defensive instincts. A good lob threat on the offensive end, Damian is signed to Northeastern and could be an immediate impact player in college with his size and athleticism.

One of the more notable transfers into Kentucky this year, Jung is a physical force who has dominated early on this season. Jung has the size and length to finish over shorter centers and showed off his soft touch on layups and post moves where he was able to shoot over a forward four or five inches shorter than him. I was encouraged by his touch on free throws and a couple left-handed finishes. When you look at the height, production and athleticism, it’s easy to see why Jung is ranked in our top 10 and committed to a Division I program.

Jung transferred into Kentucky this summer and should make an immediate impact in the 7th region. Damian provides serious rim protection and is going to be an impact player in one of the state’s toughest regions. He’s relatively unknown still but Jung has several D1 offers heading into the season.

Damian Jung attacked rebounds and blocks with violent verticality and timing. He met shots in the air as a weak-side rim protector, swatting layups off the glass and snatching rebounds at their apex. He also executed pick-and-seal actions at a high level, opening up driving lanes for his guards. His physicality, timing, and willingness to do the dirty work anchored his frontcourt presence.

A new face in the Louisville area, Jung immediately becomes one of the most dominant physical presences in all of Kentucky. With a great body and frame, Jung can physically overpower smaller forwards on both ends of the court. Able to move his feet defensively, Jung showed the ability to hang with guards on switches and when forwards tried spacing him out on the perimeter. Offensively, Jung had a monster putback dunk and showed soft hands on post entry passes that were contested. Finally I was impressed with Jung’s free throw ability, showcasing a smooth stroke that went in from the charity stripe. Expect Division I coaches to start really taking notice of Jung if he continues this level of production on both ends of the court.
