Cooper Young Cooper Young 6'0" | PG/SG Pleasant Grove | 2027 UT showed everyone at the Expo that he was the best player there. Young was a pest on the defensive side, blocking shots and jumping passing lanes, leading to easy layups. What impressed me the most was his ability to score and playmake for everyone on his team. He would consistently beat his defender and draw two, then find the open man every time, on time and on target, making the game so much easier for the other players on his team.

He worked on his three-point shot, and it showed this weekend by knocking down threes throughout the day. Effortlessly getting to his mid-range game and downhill attack, Young looked like the best hooper in the gym.

Copper might be one of the most overlooked players at his position, and he is good. Young was doing it all, and he started off dominating in 3v3. He doesn’t need a screen to shake defenders, but when he did, he used different speeds to get loose. He has a much improved jumper, and he is solid in the midrange. Young was also playing defense and getting above the rim.

Cooper is a true point guard who brings athleticism, toughness and leadership to the floor. He’s a crafty guard with the ball in his hands and a true playmaker who can create for himself and others. Young can get above the rim, attack downhill and finish through contact with athletic finishes. He should be a big-impact player for the Vikings this season.

Controlled the offense with great feel, doing an excellent job creating quality touches for his post players and making the right read. His vision allowed him to keep the offense flowing while rewarding teammates in scoring position. He generated great lift on his jumper and handled the ball with ease, creating separation and changing directions without wasting movement.

Operating out of the pick-and-roll, he used screens effectively to attack the paint before finding open shooters once the defense collapsed. He also shot the three at a high level, featuring a clean, effortless release with no wasted motion and a knack for delivering timely shot-making.
