A 2026-27 Region 7 Season Preview

Region 7 should have plenty of storylines heading into the 2026-27 season. There is a mix of experienced seniors, high-level prospects and younger players ready to take on bigger roles.

Pleasant Grove Vikings

Pleasant Grove finished 15-12 last season and went 3-5 in region play. The Vikings will be looking to bounce back this season and make a bigger impact in Region 7. Here are some players to look out for this year for the Vikings

I caught up with [player_tooltip player_id='3585249' first='Cooper' last='Young'] about the upcoming season, and he knows there are high expectations for Pleasant Grove. Young Also told me about his Goals for the upcoming season He wants to lead the team in Assists and Steals and Gain All-Region recognition. Young says the team's goal this year is a state championship in 5A

Cooper is a true point guard who brings athleticism, toughness and leadership to the floor. He's a crafty guard with the ball in his hands and a true playmaker who can create for himself and others. He has a smooth and athletic style and does a good job creating his own offense off the bounce. After playing on a loaded scoring team last season, Balch is expected to take on a much bigger role this year with more responsibility handling the ball and creating for himself and others. With his shooting ability, athleticism and ability to make plays off the bounce, Balch is a player I'll be watching closely this season.

Timpview

Taylor is a talented guard who brings a high motor, athleticism and a competitive edge to the floor. He plays with confidence and has the ability to impact the game on both ends, whether that's making plays offensively, getting downhill or competing defensively. With Timpview looking to build on last season's success, Taylor will have an important role in a team with high expectations. I'm excited to see how much he takes his game to another level this season.

Region 7 has plenty of talent and experience coming into the 2026-27 season, and there are a lot of different storylines to follow. From the established players expected to lead their teams to the younger guys ready to make their mark, this region has no shortage of players I'm excited to watch.

I'll be keeping a close eye on these teams and players throughout the season as roles develop, new names emerge and the race in Region 7 takes shape. There's a lot of basketball still to be played, and I'm looking forward to seeing who steps up when it matters most.
