Nitzel continued to cement himself at University with an impressive all around season, averaging 14.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists. As a bigger guard, he impacts the game in every area from getting to the rim, cleaning up the glass and finding teammates in transition. His versatility makes him incredibly tough to match up with. What really stood out was how he caught fire late in the season, elevating his play when it mattered most and recording two triple doubles. His ability to do everything on the floor and take over games down the stretch shows just how valuable he is
Nitzel is the most unknown player on this list, but has been a constant force for this University team since his sophomore season. Now he’s finishing up his Senior season by being a complementary piece on a team that has aspirations of bringing home the trophy. In the meantime, he’s so close to breaking 1000 points scored in his career. Nitzel is putting together a solid year where it looks like it’s within reach, but he will have to stay on the pace that he’s on right now. He’s sitting at 849 points in his career and is averaging 15.9 points a game. He should hit this mark by the end of the season with his eyes sight on bigger things as well. Have to tip your hat to him.
Nitzel’s rise in the rankings is impossible to ignore as he’s a complete force on the court for University. Averaging 15 points per game, he doesn’t just score but grabs 7.2 rebounds, dishes 5.4 assists and racks up 2.7 steals, all while shooting a scorching 61% from the field. A true floor general, he controls the tempo, makes teammates better and punishes defenders who try to test him. Whether attacking downhill, hitting mid range shots, or creating chaos on defense, Nitzel blends skill, smarts and leadership in a way that demands attention and keeps his stock climbing fast
Nitzel had an impressive summer and is primed for a huge season at University, and his all around game is a big reason why. He plays bigger than his frame, never shying away from contact and constantly looking to impose himself inside. He’s also just as comfortable stepping out and knocking down shots, giving him a versatile scoring package that keeps defenders guessing. His floater is smooth, his hustle is nonstop and he always seems to be involved in the play, whether he’s crashing the lane or tracking down loose balls. On defense Nitzel brings an aggressive edge, pressuring opponents and making every touch difficult. With his effort, versatility and confidence trending up, he’s set to be a major presence for this season
Nitzel is always one of my favorite players to watch, and this weekend just added to the list of reasons why. He does all the little things right and plays such a smart, controlled game. He consistently puts his team in great spots to score and really understands the flow of the game. This weekend, Nitzel also showed off his scoring touch. He was knocking down shots from deep and looked super smooth taking defenders off the dribble and finishing at the rim with ease. Defensively Nitzel was a pest and forced opponents to pass off all weekend. Just a complete performance from a player who clearly knows how to play the game the right way
Nitzel has all the tools you want in a classic combo guard. He can score from anywhere and makes passes through traffic look effortless. His long arms and strength make him tough to defend, especially around the rim. What really sets him apart is how he plays bigger than his 6’3″ frame. He’s always in the paint, grabbing board after board. Nitzel’s involved in every play, and when he keeps a possession alive with an offensive rebound, it really shows just how much he impacts the game
Nitzel’s size and IQ allows him to capitalize on his good backcourt size at roughly 6’3. A productive decisionmaker while attacking the rim, he works hard to find the open man when help arrives. Of course, should they not send help, he typically gets the finish thanks to his strength necessary to score through the individual defender. Putting up 15.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, Nitzel has an especially well rounded brand of basketball.
Nitzel has provided value as a tall downhill scorer with quick instincts on the move, adept at drawing in the defense for kick outs or and-1 finishes. Bringing above average size in the backcourt, the guard holds his own while attacking the rim, at his best with the right hand. Continuing to progress as a three point shooter, he is getting more confident stepping into the open shot. This follows a productive season at University, posting 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
Nitzel had success on the margins, battling for rebounds and hustling for loose balls whenever possible. Quick slashing on the backdoor, the guard found repeated success while outplaying the opposing defense.
Often tasked with breaking a press or simply setting up the halfcourt offense, Nitzel has been among the most dependable facilitators within University’s offense. An assertive ball handler versus pressure, Nitzel is a quick decision maker, hitting backdoor cutters with ease and threading the needle when necessary.
