operated well in the high and low post. He showed court vision as a timely passer, finding and hitting open guys in an instant. A true high flyer and run-and-jump athlete, McDermott thrived in the open floor and made a major impact in transition, finishing plays above the rim with effortless bounce and the ability to jump out of the gym, making him a dangerous lob threat. McDermott’s athleticism also contributed to his prowess on the boards, allowing him to secure rebounds in traffic and get putback points.

is a player that has great IQ with a great feel for the game. What I mean by that is he analyzes what he sees on the floor before making a decision especially when he is in the post and in transition in the open floor. In his game against CE King, he finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Also, he utilized his aggressiveness in the post to draw fouls so he could get to the free throw line where he went 8 out of 10 in this game. Chris has a high motor on both ends of the floor which was very noticeable. He hustled for many offensive and defensive rebounds as you can see from his rebound total. The timing on his blocks impressed many in the whole gym, he swatted shots with his great athleticism in transition. From this game alone I know Chris will have a great Senior season.

Chris was a big time catalyst as always in the War Eagles late evening win over Pasadena Memorial. The phenomenal 2024 athlete came away with 26 points on 8/16 shooting and pulled 18 rebounds. Matched up against LSU commit

III, McDermott managed to get Miller into foul trouble early and take him out of the game where Chris then took advantage of the smaller matchups and finished some easy buckets. One thing I really love about Chris’ game is that he never hesitates to take it upon himself to bring the basketball up the floor when his team needs an extra ballhandler and he is constantly able to stretch the floor on offense as someone who can spot up for a three point and occasionally make the defense pay. I also was able to catch a glimpse of the athleticism from McDermott as he gets up high to block the offensive shots at the rim, sending several of them ricocheting off the backboard and he rarely fouls as he is very disciplined not to bite on pump fakes. Look for his stock to soar this season as he looks to be the main scorer in the Eagles’ offense.

3 star recruit. Great size at 6’8, has a great wingspan for blocking shots & getting out into the passing lanes for steals. Chris has a solid back to basket game on the block. Good court vision passing to open shooters off the double. Smooth jumper, has the ability to step outside and knock down 3’s. Chris is also a solid rebounder down low.

The big man was a LOAD for Boerne in the paint. Lurking behind the defense catching lobs. I learned about how smart McDermott is defensively. Never swiped down when guarding the post; kept two hands straight up. The only big that the refs rarely called fouls on with hands straight up. Showcased how dominance on the boards snagging 16 rebounds half of Boerne total game rebounds.
