These Power Forwards and Centers helped contribute to their respective teams before heading into the Thanksgiving break. Here are the top names that caught my attention at the Hoopsgiving Classic:
Noah Ritchards
Noah Ritchards
Noah Ritchards had a great performance against Kashmere High School. He impacted the game on both ends of the floor as he protected the rim well on defense and finished around the basket on offense. In this game he finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks in 19 minutes of play. Along with those stats he was very efficient shooting the ball in the paint at an 85% clip (6-7 FG for the game). Ritchards provides good athleticism, the ability to change opposing players shots in the paint, shot blocking and aggressiveness in the paint on offense. He was the X factor for Saint Thomas Episcopal in this game and should continue to be the X factor throughout the whole season.
Josh Clark
Josh Clark
Josh Clark displayed a great performance for Clements against Crowley as he did a wide variety of things in this game to help his team win. He finished the game with a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds including 3 blocks. At 6’9 with a long wingspan he can alter shots of opposing players and block shots very well with his mobility. On offense he finishes well around the rim and can catch lobs in transition positioning himself in the dunkers spot the majority of the time. Also, he rebounds the ball very well on both ends of the floor and makes an effort to put himself in the position to do so. Clark is the anchor of this Clements defense and offense in the paint on both ends of the floor.
Jakeel Registe Jakeel Registe 6’5″ | SG Episcopal Bellaire | 2024 TX is an athletic Power Forward that can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor showing that in his performance against Silsbee. On offense he is a versatile player that can finish nicely around the rim, shoot very well in the mid-range and can dribble well through traffic in the press to find himself open shots. What impressed me the most was his terrific motor on both ends. Jakeel has a great second jump on offensive rebounds providing his team with second chance opportunities. Look forward to seeing Jakeel have a great Senior season.
Chris McDermott Chris McDermott 6’7″ | SF Booker T. Washington | 2024 State #159 Nation TX is a player that has great IQ with a great feel for the game. What I mean by that is he analyzes what he sees on the floor before making a decision especially when he is in the post and in transition in the open floor. In his game against CE King, he finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Also, he utilized his aggressiveness in the post to draw fouls so he could get to the free throw line where he went 8 out of 10 in this game. Chris has a high motor on both ends of the floor which was very noticeable. He hustled for many offensive and defensive rebounds as you can see from his rebound total. The timing on his blocks impressed many in the whole gym, he swatted shots with his great athleticism in transition. From this game alone I know Chris will have a great Senior season.
Logan Alexander Logan Alexander 6’9″ | PF C.E. King | 2025 TX had an impressive showing against Washington with his ability to make a huge impact on the defensive end. He ended up with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 8 blocks contributing to the huge win against Washington. In transition he positioned himself well around the rim for easy dunks and layups making it easy for his teammates to lob it up to him with his height of 6’9. He controlled the defensive glass grabbing 11 rebounds on the defensive side. His athleticism was a joy to watch swatting shots left and right. Logan is a big part of anchoring this Ce King defense. His senior season should be a good one.
