Grier is a defensive specialist that can guard any position in both the paint and perimeter. He has excellent timing when it comes to contesting and blocking shots. He will always look to box out the bigger players so that his team has the best chance to secure the rebound. Grier moves his feet well which allows him to lock down perimeter players. He has a soft touch around the rim and does a good job of evading contact when driving inside.

Grier is an elite defender who can guard both on the perimeter and the inside. His ability to block shots is what makes him a dominant force on the defensive end. His timing seems to always be perfect when blocking and contesting shots around the rim. He moves laterally well at 6’7″ and can switch onto anyone. Grier can finish strong with both hands around the rim and makes it a factor to always get good positioning on the inside.
