Cedric Taylor
About Cedric
Expert Analysis
Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
Taylor impressed with his ability on the interior scoring the ball on and around the low block. He takes highly efficient shots and stays within himself. Taylor has good chemistry with his guards and can play the two man game. He used his length to interrupt driving and passing lanes. Taylor put himself in good spots to shag rebounds with ease. He is one of the best available big men in the class of 2025 still on the market.

Even when college coaches aren’t in the gym they are always watching. This unsigned senior is the perfect example of that. Taylor dominated around the basket on both ends of the floor for Wildcat Select 3SSB and ultimately earned an offer from Oregon coming out of the weekend at the Prep Hoops Queen City Clash. The 6’10” center is very mobile for his size, looked comfortable as a finisher above the rim, and made a consistent impact on the defensive end of the floor for the clear best team at the event.

An unsigned senior big man who’s garnered buzz up to the high-major level dating back to the summer, Taylor flashed an intriguing skillset in the frontcourt after shaking off a slow start. The native of Sweden brings a combo of size and skill to the frontcourt with some intriguing physical tools to boot. He’s still developing his identity as a player but there’s the clear outlines of a versatile two-way presence up front. Taylor was really impactful late in the game with his energy and effort as a cleanup guy around the rim; we’d like to see him tap into that aggressive mentality more often throughout the course of the game.

Taylor seems to be one of the best kept secrets in DI recruiting despite already being offered by several. His three star rating is seen as undervalued by many while he’s projected as a mid-major program recruit, but recently scouts are asking why he isn’t seen as a power conference prospect. Recently the 6’9″ wing dazzled scouts and coaches at the Grind Session garnering player of the game vs CHI Prep recording a double double in 18 points and 12 rebounds against highest level competition. Taylor is accurately described as an explosive wing with excellent touch from three and plays strong around the hoop.

Cedric Taylor was a major bright spot for Huntington Prep in their heartbreaking loss to Wilson (SC). He is a terrific athlete who excels as a traditional rim runner. He was active in the dunker spot, in pick-and-roll sets, as a lob threat, and on the offensive glass. Cedric is also versatile on the defensive end and showed off good feet when switched onto guards and a knack for jumping passing lanes to get out in transition. I would’ve liked to see more from Taylor as a shot blocker, but his length did affect jump shots and the occasional shot around the rim. Cedric finished with team highs in Points with 17 and Rebounds with 11 in Saturday’s contest.

is one of the most intriguing long-term prospects in the 2025 class. Taylor possesses great size and athleticism at 6’10 to go with a perimeter skillset that’s rare for a guy his size. His shooting stroke is pretty and he’s shown the ability to hit open threes or knock down contested jumpers from the high post. Taylor’s recruitment has been surprisingly slow up this point but he should draw plenty of D1 eyes during the July live periods.

came over by way of Sweden two years ago but he’s since established himself as a national prospect here. Taylor is a mobile, 6’10 forward with layers of game. He can command the paint with his size and rim-protecting ability, also eager to dunk everything around the rim. Meanwhile, Taylor has a fluid shot and can space the floor, also great from the free throw line. He also makes for a very effective as a rim-runner in transition. Taylor’s recruitment hasn’t taken off quite yet but he’ll most likely collect some D1 offers this summer.

can no longer be considered a sleeper and he moves up to #22 in the latest rankings. Taylor is an athletic forward that wants to dunk everything and provides elite rim protection on the other end. He can be effective working out of either post or can step out onto the perimeter and knock down the three-ball. Taylor should be a popular prospect amongst LM/MM D1s over the next year.

put together a strong showing this weekend, assertive on both ends of the floor. The 6’10 junior can stretch the floor and consistently knock down outside shots, something I didn’t see as much from him back in the early spring. He’s got a great body too and loves to dunk everything around the rim. Taylor has all the makings of a D1 forward, just hasn’t received the recognition yet.

popped up on our radar in July after coming to the states from Sweden. Taylor is a skilled 6’9 athlete with all the tools of a next-level power forward. He’s shown the ability to step out and knock down the jumper consistently, a capable scorer out of either post as well. Taylor started the spring with Team Scoot before hopping over to TSF, both situations able to get some eyes on Taylor and build some buzz as he heads into his junior year.
