Since arriving in Oklahoma last fall as part of the new Grind Prep Academy, one thing has become clear. Adamson can shoot the rock. He’s very effective in the mid-range and beyond the arc as an on the dribble shooter and spot up threat. The combo guard is adept as an attacker in ball screens. Which while his best is still pulling up of the ball screens, his shooting touch extends as a passer to rolling or popping teammates. Adamson’s next level shooting and scoring ability will be on display at RecruitLook in Kansas City.

After growing up playing youth basketball in Oklahoma, Adamson has returned for his senior season with first year prep program Grind Prep. That has put him on a national schedule and a lot of games in Texas, but when “Los” has played in Oklahoma he’s proven his scoring bonafides with his skilled scoring. He can hit in the mid-range, often looking confident coming off screens, or quick 1-2 dribble moves with little wasted motion. At the rim, he plays at own his pace, with good body control and sneaky hangtime while also using his long arms to get off shots in traffic. As the lanky senior continues to grow into his frame and start to put on good college weight, it’s easy to see how his advance skillset can translate to the next level.

Adamson is really settling into his role a strong off the ball scorer, with a variety of ways to do damage. They ran a lot of good action to get him going in the mid-range, or get down hill. He’s got a crafty way to keep his drives alive just long enough to get his shots off or draw a foul. But he looked his best just draining shots in the 15-18 range with the occasional big three mixed in. Including a huge, tough off the dribble deep triple that forced overtime. There wasn’t a lot of wasted motions in his scoring action throughout the games, which is a good sign for how his game could translate to the next level.

Adamson has a great handle, which allowed him to often handle the waves of ball pressure thrown at him. At the basket he’s a sneaky finisher, as he can often angle release points or hang in the air just long enough to avoid shot blockers. His jumper is smooth in the mid-range, with three pointers mixed in. The senior is trending toward being more of a two guard, as passing and floor vision is an area where improvement is needed.

A newcomer to Oklahoma, Adamson has been watched a few times at a showcase camp and in a couple early October jamboree games. The initial signs for the skilled guard are good. He plays at his own pace, is a quality shooter from beyond the arc and can get to the mid-range. Adamson is also capable of playing on or off the ball. The intensity level of local fall basketball often lags behind high school and other more competitive events, so the 21st spot is viewed as a place holder spot before getting to watch Adamson in events such as the Joe Lawson Invitational in December and more of the strong regional and national schedule that Grind Prep will be playing.

Adamson needs to be seen ASAP. He has a pretty hesitation move that he can use to attack in a couple different ways. Adamson has a pretty scoop finish and a dangerous pull up jumper that he can hit with a hand in his face.
