Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Proved to be a legit two-way point guard on his way to leading Gonzaga Prep to the 4A title this year. While it was a collective team effort, Howell stood out after the Bullpups lost two key players for the season. He was in the top ten in scoring in the Greater Spokane League at around 15 a game and showed he could run the show and shell out assists. Very quick and tough guard who shined in the biggest moment of the year, hitting the game-winner in the state title game.

Brogan was a huge part of this years 4A state champ Gonzaga Prep. He was a main piece of the offense, working with and without the ball ton help get buckets for his team. Howell has a smooth mid-range shot, elevating on his jumper to get his shot off above defenders. He is an underrated player who should be on 4 year coaches radar due to his work ethic and play-style.

Brogan has had a fantastic senior season, stepping up his game from last season in all ways. He attacks downhill with urgency and uses his strength to his advantage in the paint. He does a great job at breaking down the defense and getting to the free throw line. He has an excellent shot and provides big sparks of energy for his team.

Howell is a dog. He’s a kid who is willing to grind from possession to possession, doesn’t take plays off, and will challenge whoever opposes him on both sides of the floor. Gonzaga Prep has dealt with some injuries to key players this season and Howell has stepped up in a big way, entering the new year as the fourth leading scorer in the GSL 3A/4A at 17.5 a game. He’s a tough kid who can get to the rack, put pressure on ballhandlers, and inject a lot of energy into his teammates.

Gonzaga Prep has been dealing with some key injuries this season and has been incredibly reliant on some fantastic guard play in order to get out to a 4-1 start. Howell has really shined early on with his quickness and downhill play. He has such good ball/body control when speeding down lanes while giving the defense the impression he could shift and go left or right. He’s also a gritty defender who will challenge ballhandlers and can really irritate them with his physical defense and quick hands.

Howell was really impressive in their win over Kamiakin in the District 8 quarterfinals. He made a few key plays early on, first reading the defense for a nice backdoor cut for an easy layup, then jumping the ballhandler next time down and timing his dribble for a steal. Then, a little later in the first he came down and drained an open 3 from the top. He kept up that scrappy defense in the second half, anticipating driving angles to get in front, causing more steals, and threw a couple of really nice dimes while working around the paint. He was a big factor on both ends and should be a guy to watch as the Bullpups get ready for the 4A tournament.
