McMahon didn’t pose a stat line that’ll catch your eye immediately, but if you’ve watched this St. Frances team enough during their difficult national schedule, he has stepped up in key moments with huge shots that help maintain or sway the momentum for his team. It was the same last night for the 6-foot-7 lefty forward as Mount St. Joe made multiple runs to cut the lead down to 10 and established control as you assumed they’d pull within 5-to-8 points sooner rather than later. Instead, McMahon came off the bench and buried back-to-back three’s to take the wind out of the Gaels sails and put the Panthers back up 16 as ultimate nail in the coffin. It wouldn’t surprise me if McMahon ends up doing the same thing in a big postseason moment as he continues to shine in his role off the bench in the back half of the season.

Yet another critical addition for the Panthers has been McMahon, who made the move to Baltimore from Chopticon. You never really know how public school players will adjust to the level of play in the BCL, but McMahon has carved out an immediate role for himself for a team that was desperate for size in the frontcourt. McMahon brings length, activity around the rim, and ability to space the floor when he has time to set his feet. There have been multiple games where his presence helped swing the momentum, but none more impressive than his first couple of quarters in their win over Archbishop Stepinac (NY), as he was faced with the task of taking on the Ratliff twins.

McMahon is a long armed wing who finds ways to stay active in the game on both ends of the floor. He shows flashes playing above the rim. Can guard multiple positions and cover ground with his blend of quickness and length. He even showed flashes from deep. McMahon’s best basketball is ahead of him.

and played very well, earning a win in the end. McMahon guarded well and was effective on the glass rebounding the ball. A lot of promise behind the big guard if he can continue to improve his game this summer.
