McVey was behind a couple of really talented guards last season, but he’s getting a chance to run the show this year and has stepped up in a big way to keep Federal Way up near the top of the NPSL. He’s a strong guard who knows how to get to the hoop, use his burst and balance to get by the initial defender, and has shown some nice vision while getting downhill to be a multi-dimensional threat with the rock.

Brayden is lefty guard/wing player who is scrappy with good length. He has long arms and is built for defense with his quirk and high energy style of play. He is also a skilled player who can score if needed, showing the ability to create and finish well around the rim. He played with a good understanding of floor spacing, passes well on the perimeter, including some nifty one arm lasers through the defense. He took a couple charges in a high level AAU game, which speaks to the type of player he is. He is rangy and can be effective around the basket both rebounding and scoring. He was a 3rd team all league selection at Thomas Jefferson this season as a sophomore. He looks to be a versatile player who can make that next step this season.

McVey is a guy that is close to putting it together. He can get to the hoop pretty easily but sometimes lacks the finishing to put a stamp on the play. He has good vision on his drives and stays aware of where his teammates are and where lanes are opening up for cuts and dives. If he can sure up his finishing at the hoop, he will be able to take his playmaking to the next level and establish himself as a player to watch at Thomas Jefferson.
