Drea found himself in foul trouble early in this one, limiting his minutes significantly in the first half. He was coming off a 25-point outburst the night before against Newton. He knocked down five treys in that one. He still ended up with five assists without a turnover Saturday. He can score from anywhere in the half court and gets up the floor quickly. He’s solidly built, which allows him to get all the way to the basket and finish through contact. He handles it very well and sees the floor at a high level. He’s a solid on-ball defender.

Drea was dominant for the Indians against his former school, Ankeny, leading the team with 21 points on 8-14 shooting, including going 3-8 from behind the arc. A high IQ guard who really knows how to get to his spots, he has excellent footwork and the ability to finish either around or through contact around the bucket. He has great body control, is a really good ball-handler, and does a tremendous job changing speeds to help momentarily lose the defender. He’s a good shooter both off the dribble and the catch, and does a great job limiting turnovers and getting others involved. A solid on-ball defender who moves his feet well and contests shots without fouling, Drea had an outstanding all-around showing last week in the win.

A 5-11 combo guard who showcased last year that he can be an elite shooting threat, Drea averaged 11.9 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 43% from behind the arc as a junior. Throughout his time in Ankeny, he was more of a pure point guard who looked to get others involved first and foremost, and while he still has those lead guard abilities as a ball-handler, decision-maker, and passer, the added shooting ability is a major asset.
