Here are some guys who stood out during the contest:
Drea found himself in foul trouble early in this one, limiting his minutes significantly in the first half. He was coming off a 25-point outburst the night before against Newton. He knocked down five treys in that one. He still ended up with five assists without a turnover Saturday. He can score from anywhere in the half court and gets up the floor quickly. He’s solidly built, which allows him to get all the way to the basket and finish through contact. He handles it very well and sees the floor at a high level. He’s a solid on-ball defender.
Brady Blake
Brady Blake
Blake boasts a strong all-around game, contributing in multiple areas on both ends of the court. He piled up 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting from the floor Saturday, including hitting 3 of 6 three-point attempts. He also grabbed eight rebounds and added a steal. He offers good length and athleticism, allowing him to guard multiple positions.
Glascock is fun to watch. He plays with great pace while still under control. He dished out a team-high nine assists in this one, running the show while Drea was dealing with foul issues. He’s tall and long for a guard, which helps on both ends of the floor. The only thing more impressive than his game might be his hair.
Highlights
Willmott resembles most of his Indianola teammates in that he’s versatile and skilled. He runs the court very well and hits the boards with a purpose. He snagged a team-best none rebounds Saturday, including four on the offensive end. He added a blocked shot and dished out six assists.
Heimbaugh netted a team-high 19 points against CCA. He did so efficiently, knocking down 7 of 10 field goal tries, including 5 of 7 from behind the three-point arc. He moves very well without the ball and gets to his spots ready to fire away when given a sliver of daylight. He helps spread the floor and open up the lane for drivers.
Andrew Rotzoll
Andrew Rotzoll
The wiry Rotzoll is all arms and legs. He uses it to his advantage against shorter guards. He’s very skilled for his age and that helps him compete well against older competition. He handles the ball deftly and has a knack for shaking defenders. He gets good height on his jumper and shows a quick release. I like the ceiling here.
Cale Berry
Cale Berry
Berry is leading the young Clippers in scoring this season. He gets his points on all three levels and understands the appropriate time to cash in. He doesn’t force the action and moves the ball along if he’s not at an advantage. He’s long, which helps him rebound and defend. He’s another intriguing piece on a team that could take off the next two years.
