Expert Analysis
Steve Quattrocchi | Prep Hoops Scout
Brax made some of the most impressive improvement in Kentucky over his high school career and will look to keep improving at Georgetown College next year. Ward is a versatile big who can step out and shoot in addition to scoring on the block.

Perhaps no one on this list has improved as much over their high school career as Brax has. Committed to Georgetown College, Ward is skilled and has a high basketball IQ. He plays hard and has become a reliable post scorer in the last two years.

Brax has continued to improve over the course of his high school career and with Teagan Moore now gone to WKU, Ward will step into the spotlight as the go to scorer for Owen County. He still will have some help in the form of

but Brax will be asked to shoulder a lot of the load that comes from losing the best player in school history. At 6’9, Ward can be the best big in the region if he plays up to his potential.

I feel like I’ve written about Brax once a week for the last month but he’s deserving of the positive words and praise thanks to how well he has played this summer. At 6’9, Ward is capable of scoring around the block but also can knock down multiple threes a game as a catch and shoot forward.

One of the biggest jumps in this update, Ward moves from 59th to 40th and could edge his way up over the next 9 months before signing day. Brax is a stretch big who is comfortable stepping out past the three point line but has finally started to realize that most of his buckets will come from the elbow and in. Keep an eye on Ward for a big Senior year.

For the last 2-3 years, I’ve been waiting for Ward to put it all together and it seems like he is. Brax has rapidly improved in the last 6 months or so and with his super high academics, he’s earned multiple roster spots at the non-scholarship level. As his game keeps improving, don’t be surprised if some D2s and NAIAs offer because he won’t cost them much (if anything) in scholarship money.

Brax is going to have high expectations on him for his Senior season at Owen County and if this past weekend is any indication, he may be up to the task. At 6’9, Ward had a big weekend and was among the best “bigs” in the event with his play over the course of two days.

Brax is about to become the main weapon at Owen County for the first time in his career. He averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds in his Junior season and will have chances to increase that production next season with

gone. Ward can step out and shoot at 6’9 and is super high academic. D3 and high academic schools should be all over him.

Ward had a great year as he is proved to be one of the most versatile big men in the state averaging 14 ppg, 8 rpg and knocked down 15 – 3’s. He is still continuing to develop is offensive game but he has a good shot out to 3pt range and take his time in the post to create angles. Plays with an extremely high motor and competes on both ends of the floor. Most recently, he held Youngstown State commit, Gabe Dynes to 6 points and 9 rebounds. Ward doesn’t get the credit he deserves but he is one of the most underappreciated players in the state.
