Athletics have been central to Hammett in many of his years given he has also participated in track and field and football (as a tight end and middle linebacker). Basketball-wise, he typically plays in the backcourt as either a one or a two while standing at 5-foot-11. Hammett possesses strong ball handling skills and his ability to rebound is every bit as strong as his handles. In addition, Hammett also runs the floor with a great degree of efficiency and this comes in useful when getting out to make plays in the transition game. Those transition buckets can at times occur on the heels of him poking the ball from the hands of an opposing ball carrier.
