Many of the Peach State’s premier 2026s converged on Lakepoint Sports Center in Cartersville for the one-day gathering. Georgia’s Freshman Showcase was the first of many that will take place across the country. Lakepoint Sports Center also will play host, once again, to this year’s Prep Hoops and Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expos.
There were so many standout performances in Cartersville they could not simply be contained to a mere two articles. Here are a few more that turned in veteran-like outings to stick out amongst the class of 2026.
When basketball opponents are not on the receiving end of Jones’ athletic play, football opponents typically are given it is Jones’ second sport of choice. That athleticism Jones possesses is combined with a knack for consistent playmaking. Jones will certainly take and make his fair share of 3-point attempts, but his ball distribution gives him an element of knowing when to score and when to pass. He is listed at 5-foot-10 and typically plays as a two guard. Jones will have a busy schedule upcoming given the football schedule for the Yellow Jackets kicks off this Friday.
There are lots of elements to the game a coach can coach – including how to run a pick and roll and proper form to box out on an opponent’s free throw. Height is the one thing that cannot be coached and Glover possesses a lot of it at a tall 6-foot-4. Glover will attempt plenty of shots from the midrange and will also make plays near the rim. That height advantage also gives him an edge when going after rebounds and he combines the skillset of many guards with the height of some bigs. The school opened its doors in 2018 and its athletic programs – including boys basketball – are continuing to gain traction.
Athletics have been central to Hammett in many of his years given he has also participated in track and field and football (as a tight end and middle linebacker). Basketball-wise, he typically plays in the backcourt as either a one or a two while standing at 5-foot-11. Hammett possesses strong ball handling skills and his ability to rebound is every bit as strong as his handles. In addition, Hammett also runs the floor with a great degree of efficiency and this comes in useful when getting out to make plays in the transition game. Those transition buckets can at times occur on the heels of him poking the ball from the hands of an opposing ball carrier.
