About Blake

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a team player, always hyping others up and encouraging short-term memory after mistakes. I am always ready to take the shot, but unselfish enough to know when I need to hit the open man for a better shot. My biggest strengths are defense and rebounds. I am aggressive- if the ball is on the floor, I'm on the floor.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am driven and hard-working, looking to face my challenges head-on. I am reserved at first until I get to know my crowd. I am very focused, but love to have fun. I enjoy making others laugh and have a great time, while also being a mentor to others in the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of the National Junior High Honor Society, SWAG (Saved With Amazing Grace) at Shelby Christian Church, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through NJHHS, we have the opportunity to provide a minimum of 10 hours of community service throughout the year. With my church's youth group, I am able to help with volunteer opportunities and community services such as vacation bible school and community night out. As an athlete, I have found myself having many opportunities to be a leader and mentor to younger athletes.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In my most recent season, I had a ruptured appendix that caused me to miss several games. I was able to rally around my team, being present for each practice and game as soon as I was released from the hospital. I also had a teammate & best friend that tore his ACL in an early season game. The mental strain it put on us, as well as the need for me to step up my game was challenging.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has supportive faculty, advanced technologies, and well-rounded curriculum. If I have the opportunity to play basketball for them, I would want the basketball program to have knowledgeable staff, well-maintained facilities, and opportunities for continued growth and learning in the game of basketball.

Another athletic energy forward on this team that did all the dirty work that make teams successful. High motor forward that sets good screens and crashes the boards hard. Did show some potential of a perimeter jumper, but did most of his damage around the basket. Defensively he was able to guard all over the floor while doing so at a high level.
