About Ben

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

A versatile player with a complete skill set- finishes through contact, does well off 2 feet, knocks down the 3, & defends bigger guys with ease. Strong, mature frame, high IQ. Can run the PG or play off- ball. (Chicago Hoops scouting report)

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a "love of the game" approach to basketball. I have been going to games my whole life and I believe in the big picture when it comes to success. I am proud to be on this journey and I am excited to see where it takes me.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been on teams where my teammates are my best friends in the world. I have been on teams where it is a business mindset and it seems like there isn't a common goal. I believe that it is a skill to understand the difference between the 2 and I am working on my leadership skills to make the most out of any situation.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have a few food allergies. This means I couldn't eat certain things that it seems like every kid my age was enjoying. However, this became my food discipline and allowed me to develop the skill of understanding how certain ingredients help or harm development.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am a family person so it would be cool to stay close to home. However, as I travel more and more of the country through basketball- I believe that I can excel anywhere.

Fillenwarth certainly put his name on the map with his play at the camp.  The 5’11” Niles West guard has a strong frame and slippery handles.  Got to the rack for several tough finishes through and around contact.  Also poured in the jumpers one after another including three from distance in one game along with several in the mid-range.
