About Ben

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I came into the Don Bosco basketball program when they were rebuilding. Because of this, I have gotten to grow with their system and have learned to play different styles of basketball. I have played really slow half court basketball; and fast read and react basketball. I will probably lead us in scoring this year, but I would not expect to be your leading scorer at any point early in my career.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am calm under pressure. I don't show it if I am frustrated or not happy with a call. I have an ability to bring that calm to others. There wre several incidents in AAU ball when opponents were angry and almost ready to fight. I can talk people down and often get people smiling/laughing by the time the game is done. I am the player the refs like to chat with between quarters and after the game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No, not since high school. I was in scouts in grade school, was an altar server in church, and volunteered often to help with church events.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been looked at as a leader on my high school team since my sophomore year. We had a young team and I had the most playing experience. I'm able to help the other guys by giving pointers and not criticism.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My Dad passed away from kidney cancer when I was 5 years old. I haven't had a Dad to mentor me or practice with me in any of my sports. I tried to compensate for that by going to every camp I could when I was younger. I attended Snow Valley, Breakthrough, and Iowa Prep camps multiple times over multiple years.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'd like a smaller school where the professors know who you are. I'd like a school that is near an urban area if possible. I am looking for schools with business/marketing/management programs.
