This was the second showcase event I’ve seen Kante play in and once again he impacted the game in the same way he did the first time. Very active defensively and light on his feet, Kante can force turnovers with his length, aggressiveness and activity on the defensive end. Kante also hit a few more open perimeter shots than I saw the first two times I watched him play. Really like the motor he plays with, should have a big senior season in the CMAC.

Kante got on our radar after an impressive showing at the 270 Hoops Prospect Camp. This came in the summer after a Junior season where he averaged 10.3 PPG on 45% shooting from the floor. An impressive slasher and playing with a high motor, Kante got points because he simply outworked his opponents. This motor translates to the defensive end where he averaged .9 steals and .6 blocks per game, expect Kante to be well over a steal a game this season. With his physical tools, motor and developing jumper that hit 48% of his 37 3-point attempts last season, Kante could be a breakout candidate in the Cincinnati area this winter.

One of the most impactful defenders from either session, Kante was a force in the paint. Blocking shots, boxing out and providing energy, few players played harder than Kante on Wednesday. An unselfish player in transition, Kante made the simple pass and scored in the paint when shots came to him. After scoring 10 PPG as a Junior, expect Kante to put up even bigger numbers as a senior in the CMAC.
