As we’re only days away from the 2029 rankings drop, it was great to get an updated look on Awosanya as he’s now made the move over to Charlotte Christian. Awosanya has proven to be a super high motor wing forward that can help connect your team at both ends of the floor and set the tone from an energy perspective. None of that has changed and it looks like Charlotte Christian is running a lot of their offense through Awosanya in the middle of the floor and that will allow him to rapidly develop his ability to make quick decisions with the ball in his hands. His productivity is spearheaded by his combination of motor and athleticism with that directly translating to consistent production. It was a close loss to Burlington Christian for this group but Awosanya had some really strong moments along with a clear direction being established for his further development.

Ayo Awosanya may not always be the loudest player in the gym, but his impact is impossible to ignore. The 6-foot-5 wing plays with a physicality and toughness that consistently affects winning.
Awosanya excels when attacking the basket. He is strong, aggressive, and embraces contact. Once he gets a shoulder past his defender, he becomes extremely difficult to contain. His ability to finish through traffic and generate paint touches made him one of the more productive wings I watched throughout the weekend.
Beyond his scoring, Awosanya brings tremendous value as a rebounder and defender. He plays bigger than his listed height because of his motor and willingness to compete on every possession. He was active on both backboards, routinely extending possessions for his team while also limiting second-chance opportunities on the defensive end.
Defensively, he showed the ability to guard in space, move his feet, and contain drives without sacrificing physicality. That two-way versatility is a major reason multiple college programs have already begun to invest in his recruitment. Players who can defend multiple positions, rebound, and score efficiently are always valuable, and Awosanya checks all of those boxes.

Awosanya is a very intriguing combo forward prospect that plays the game with a ton of energy that directly translates to production for this Elite 1 17u team. Awosanya recently announced his reclassification to 2029 and transfer from Myers Park to Charlotte Christian, so he’s playing up two age groups and doing more than just holding his own. He really shows his athleticism on the glass at both ends of the floor, always around the basketball and looking to secure rebounds in traffic. He can score it from multiple levels and typically takes high percentage shots and open perimeter looks, allowing him to exist in this offense gracefully. Expect Awosanya to be a name we talk about for years to come as his recruitment will inevitably pick up after the work he’s been putting in with this group.

An intriguing prospect to get to know on the independent side with Elite1; showcases his athleticism with his ability to finish around the rim and rebound in bunches; learning to play a tough/physical brand of basketball and it paid off in his final outing as he poured in 22 points in the championship game; will be interesting to see his growth as he moves to Charlotte Christian in 2026-27

is such a valuable piece to have on your team with how much he’s able to impact the game at both ends of the floor. For a Myers Park team with multiple next level prospects on it, Awosanya is their most impactful two way player. This team is 14-7 on the season and poised for a deep playoff run and Awosanya is such a big part of that due to his activity. He’s averaging 17.5 Points, and 8.1 Rebounds per game while shooting 71% from the floor on the season. He is 50% from three as well but only on half an attempt per game. His switch-ability defensively combined with his efficiency and volume offensively make him malleable to all different types of play styles and surrounding personnel. Ayo can really finish around the rim at a high level and is continuing to expand his game beyond that with higher frequency. He should continue to have a stock rising type spring/summer as well.

The 2nd highest scoring output of the day was put together by the forward out of Myers Park. Standing around 6’4 he consistently got to the rim off the dribble and was nearly unstoppable to keep off the offensive glass. Ayo finished with 30 points 10 rebounds on 9 of 12 from the floor and even knocked down 12 free throws.

A lot to like about the 6-foot-5 wing out of Myers Park; he suited up this past grassroots cycle with Team Loaded VA on the 3SSB stage; intriguing defender with versatility and athleticism who can play above the rim; put up 9.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 1.7 bpg as a freshman with the Mustangs

Awosanya has been quite the presence in the Myers Park frontcourt in his freshman season. He’s shown his poise in the painted area with 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, utilizing his 6-foot-5 frame in a variety of ways for the Mustangs. He’s off to quite the start and due for prime development over the next few seasons.

Awosanya is an athletic forward prospect already making an impact in the Myers Park frontcourt on the NCHSAA stage. He’s coming into his own as quite the paint presence on both ends of the floor with production of 7.1 pints, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per contest on 66 percent shooting from the floor. He doesn’t need to score at volume around the rim to be effective and he’s quite the defensive anchor already with his length and athleticism in North Carolina’s 2028 class.
