Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
One of the more improved frontcourt players in the state this year, Ross is the quintessential type of prospect who has flourished in the post-grad realm for years. A late-bloomer with clear scholarship-level tools, he’s an active rim-protector with an enticing blend of length and mobility while patrolling the back line of a defense. He runs the floor with ease and shows explosiveness as a finisher around the rim. As he continues to add reps and strength during his year at Phelps (PA), look for programs at the D1 and D2 levels to begin taking note.

The tools have always been there for Ross, a strikingly long and nimble rim-running forward. He’s made significant strides this winter in terms of parlaying his physical gifts into consistent production, thus earning a bump of more than 30 spots into the top 100 of our rankings. Ross, who plays for his dad at Downingtown West, has been effective for the Whippets as a two-way presence near the basket. He capitalizes on scrap points offensively with quick jumps as a finisher, but really stands out with his impact as a rebounder and rim-protector thanks to his energy and next-level length. Ross profiles as a potential priority for small-college coaches with a chance to catch eyes at the scholarship level over the rest of his season or particularly should he elect for a post-grad year.

Ross is a mile long big who continues to get better with time and makes a name for himself on the defensive end. His beanstalk like arms allow him to contest any and every shot that. Ross was in good spots on the floor to collect an ample supply of rebounds. He is a tad raw on the offensive end and needs to work on getting stronger. Ross is the ideal candidate for a postgrad year.

Really enjoyed the way that Ross prided himself as an anchor in the paint for a well-oiled machine that is Downington West. Closer to 6-foot-8 than he is 6-foot-6, Ross blocked five shots and altered several others with his presence while hauling in 11 rebounds in their bracket title game against Whitman today. Anytime he was in the vicinity, he forced driving guards to look over their shoulder before finishing at the rim. He’s a mobile big that runs the floor with purpose and despite scoring just two points, had actions offensively that benefited his team in other ways.

Ross is a late blooming athletic forward who is as long as a country mile. He was able to showcase his athleticism on either end of the floor. Ross can guard multiple positions due to his size, length and lateral quickness. He can play above the rims and can be a threat from the dunker spots. His best basketball is still ahead of him.
