Expert Analysis

Amari just finished his high school career as the second leading scorer in Lexington history. One of the quickest players in the state with the ball in his hands, Owens is darn near impossible to stop when he’s getting downhill. Signed to EKU, Amari will excel in that system, especially if he improves his three point shooting.

Amari has shown himself to be one of the hardest player to guard in Kentucky. Elite at getting paint touches, Owens has shown he’s been working on his game in the offseason as well. Now shooting 46% from three and 71% from the free throw line, Amari has strengthened his weaknesses. EKU is getting a beast.

Amari is likely the most valuable player to his team in Lexington. He accounts for most of the offense for Station and plays with the ball in his hands most of the time. Owens is deadly with the ball in his hands and excels at getting into the paint. Don’t be surprised if Amari is a top ten scorer in Kentucky this year. He’s signed with EKU for college.

Another 11th region standout, Owens is one of the best isolation scorers in Kentucky, regardless of class. Amari is both quick and fast and is deadly when allowed to get to his left hand. He’s a big time playmaker who has the potential to account for the vast majority of the scoring for Bryan Station. Owens is one of the top available Seniors and holds multiple D1 offers already.

Owens was a first team all state selection and had a huge season for Bryan Station as a Junior. Amari is EXTREMELY hard to stop when he’s getting downhill with his left hand. He’s capable of scoring a lot and doing it quickly as well as making an impact on defense with his ability to get into gaps and cause havoc.

I was really impressed with how hard Bryan Station played defensively, swarming the basketball and forcing a ton of turnovers and turning those into instant offense. Owens did what he usually does which is score the basketball. The lefty guard is quick and shifty and is a walking paint touch. A very talented player, I’m hoping to see Owens have the game slow down for him as he matures. While he led the game with 20 points, it took him 21 shots to score those points. I believe Owens has the ability to be more efficient in the future and has the potential to be a Division I player. The motor, athleticism and production are all areas Owens already checks and he’s ranked inside our top 15 of our 2026 rankings for a reason, one of the most talented players in Lexington at the moment.
