WHY?
He was a game-changer this weekend because he happily took on the toughest defensive assignment in each game and locked down some really nice scorers, particularly in the first 3 contests. Kuhl’s ability to stay completely focused on the details defensively, to guard multiple positions, to play angles very well and to remain disciplined in taking away an opponent’s strengths gives the Comets comfort and assurance. This past weekend, Amani Amani WI guarded an athletic 3/4 man who likes to create off the dribble, a 2 guard who scores at multiple levels, a 1/2 skilled knockdown shooter, and a long wing shooter who constantly runs off screens and needs only an inch of daylight. Combine that with high IQ play and ball security as the Comets Point Forward, and you have a player who does so many little but important things that do not show up in a box score. This allows Kuhl to make a huge impact and bring great value even in games in which he doesn’t score many points.

He is the Draymond Green of MN Comets Kuhl. Of course, Kuhl does not get T’s! Amani hoops with a high IQ and often takes the toughest defensive assignment regardless of position. Kuhl facilitates as a point forward, the swing post, and elbow. He leads the Comets in assists and nearly has a 7-1 AST/TO. He is less of a scorer and not a high-flyer but Amani is shooting around 40% from the arc on the season.

Kuhl is a pass-first point-forward who uses physicality and IQ to impact the game as an offensive threat. He has great mobility for his size and when you combine that with his strength, he becomes a real rebounding threat. With the solid ball-handling skills he possesses, Kuhl is able to grab-n-go off the defensive glass and become a break starter himself. I really like the energy that Kuhl has, it’s evident he’s a team oriented player who wants to win.

is a six-foot-guard from Elk River High School and played AAU with the rising program the Northstar Titans. Kuhl was sneaky productive playing with Team 4 scoring eight points, and he showcased a little bit of one-on-one ability on one basket early in the game.
