Alston remains the most interesting when he’s operating as a stretch forward type, popping off ball screens or setting up off the ball. While he did plenty of that at the RUN Showcase, the Destiny Christian Wildcat also showed he was willing to get his nose dirty while mixing it up around the paint. He’s not the most fluid or strong athlete right now, but he is developing the grit that along with his size can make him be an effective inside-outside threat. And should be a fun recruit for a program that is good at developing post prospects with shooting touch.

A spring breakout prospect, early on the stretch forward took advantage of the defense sagging off of him by burying a top of the key open three pointer.  After that, he spent a large of the portion of the game battling around the rim on both ends of the court. With his long arms and activity level, he racked up a surprising number of deflections and blocks.  Once he secured a defensive rebound or recorded a steal, Alston was comfortable taking a dribble or two before passing it ahead and running the floor hard himself. While he’s willing to battle around the rim on both ends, he needs to improve his efficiency at finishing at the rim. Some of that comes down to adding strength to his frame as he matures, but it’s an important area to watch as Alston works to become a college level prospect.

Alston’s ability to go on a 6-0 run in a short span of time highlighted the impact he can on a game. As a plug-and-play player, Alston can contribute effectively to an offense from various positions on the floor. It was impressive that he didn’t wait for rebounds but actively went after them, showcasing his determination and hustle. As a raw prospect, Alex Alston Alex Alston 6'8" | PF Destiny Christian | 2024 State OK possesses great potential at the forward position, and it will be exciting to see his growth and development throughout his senior year.

A lanky forward prospect with shooting touch, Alston has been an intriguing watch this spring with OK Impact 4:13. His ability to stretch the floor as a pick and pop or spot up threat is what immediately jumps out. If he continues to improve his physicality as his frame fills out, the Destiny Christian Wildcat could be a dark house to have one of the longer and more successful college careers of any 2024 prospect.
