About Abram
Expert Analysis
Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
Initiated challenging plays defensively on perimeter. Sticks out on top of 1-2-2 zone and uses lengthy wing span to advantage. Closes out quick and effectively on smaller lower to ground guards. Active movement on O. Cut through the lane for retrieval and fouled going up. Made another back side cut for catch and floater and1. Spotted up from beyond arc for 3 3’s himself and contributed cohesively well with teammates. Scored 14 total. Consistent 2-way player w/ lanky frame.

Williams has one main superpower: hitting contested mid range jump shots. Despite some questionable shot selection at times, he has a very high release point on his jumper and gets lots of elevation over the defense when he shoots it. He can fadeaway on either side and is a tough shot maker. He also has solid strength at the rim and good athleticism and versatility for the wing position. If he can continue to develop his ball handling and standstill three point shooting, he could be a high level D3 guy based on his size and microwave scoring ability.

Williams, a big, two-way wing out of Palatine in Illinois, made an impact on both ends of the floor with his motor, length, and quick twitch athleticism. He plays with great energy on the defensive end of the floor, using his physical tools to make plays in passing lanes, rebound in traffic, and keep opposing ball-handlers out of the paint. Offensively, he’s hard to guard in transition as he uses his strength to his advantage when getting downhill. He’s a quick second jumper that has a nose for the ball on the offensive glass and plays with the physicality needed to finish through contact around the rim.

Williams was one of the better athletes I saw at the showcase and really impressed with his inside-outside game. He can run the floor in transition and get above the rim for lobs, but he can also step outside on the perimeter and hit the three ball if the defense plays off of him. He has some nice wiggle to his offensive game but an improved handle would really raise his stock. Right now, there are tons of D3 schools that would take a chance on a 6-foot-5 athletic wing who can shoot it.
