He has 8 talented teams of 8-10 players on each team. (Some were out of town in CA and didn’t attend this week).
And they will be competing for around 3 weeks on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Each team plays once a night and eventually every team will play each team once.
I will review all 8 teams’ standouts this week.
We now look at the Clippers:
Arthur Kaluma Arthur Kaluma 6'7" | PF Dream City Christian | 2021 State #38 Nation AZ (Dream City Christian)
-One of the stronger forwards on the West Coast is as tough as they come. He does love getting downhill with a nice handle for position but he is starting to improve his perimeter game. He can hit 3’s and create a shot for himself at any time. Once he gets into the lane he can make a floater plus absorbs contact and scores through it. He will most likely live on the FT line with his brute strength and toughness inside the paint. He is a very good passer and does virtually anything on a court. I see him as a true power forward with the ability to do guard skills making him very attractive to college coaches. He has 8 high level offers including recent ones to Kansas, Syracuse and Utah.
Tyler Simon Tyler Simon 6'4" | CG Dream City Christian | 2021 State AZ (Dream City Christian)
-A tall, long and lean scoring PG. He has very good court vision and can make passes with his right or left hand. His top skill is clearly his deep ball. He has volleyball line range and gets it off quickly. He can take it into the teeth of the defense but he does sometimes settle for the 3. He uses his length on the defensive end and also uses it to maneuver away from shot blockers in traffic to score. He just moved in from Texas and has a slew of D1 offers.
Simon will be a great addition for Dream City’s Grind Session team.Patrick Chew Patrick Chew 6'4" | SG Brophy | 2022 State AZ (Brophy Prep)
-A tough-minded defensive guard who plays very hard throughout the game. He can handle the ball well and makes good reads to teammates. You won’t see him take bad shots and the son of a coach just does his job, He can drive into the lane and score through contact with his strong upper body. He is a catch-3pt shooter and plays a smart floor game. His defense, motor and shooting-potential could make him a possible 3 and D player on the next level.
Carson Ledbetter Carson Ledbetter 6'6" | PF Casteel | 2022 State AZ (Casteel)
-A strong and quickly growing back to the basket type of post player keeps getting a little better each season. He has good hands and can score it patiently in the post. He rebounds the ball well in his area and he should be leaned on by new head coach of the Colts.
Kerie Edmead PG 5’11 2021 St. Pius/St. Mathias (CA)
-A quick scoring guard from California can shoot it from the perimeter plus push the rock in transition. He is a good ball handler and can make the open 3. He is a pest on the ball defensively and plays at a good pace.
