The Kansas High School Activities Association announced following the opening round that the remaining state tournament games will not be played.
Stockton defeated Berean Academy, 38-33; South Central got past Lebo, 41-38; Little River defeated St. Francis, 65-46; and St. John got past Frankfort, 59-38.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several prospects who stood out in Dodge City.
Trey Rolfs, 5’11, G, 2021, Little River
A nice lead guard who can score, facilite and make plays on the defensive end of the floor. He has good size to defend the perimeter and shows a good sense of floor space and a nice scoring ability. He can knock down 3-pointers, get to the basket and connect from the free throw line. Rolfs plays well with fellow teammate Jayden Garrison Jayden Garrison 6'2" | CG Little River | 2021 State KS as they can both score in bunches in a moments notice. He went for 22 points on 10 for 17 shooting in a 65-46 win over St. Francis.
Jayden Garrison Jayden Garrison 6'2" | CG Little River | 2021 State KS , 6’0, G/F, 2021, Little River
An impressive multiple sport athlete who can score, rebound, find the open man and force turnovers on defense. Garrison has a lot of skills and a solid combination of athleticism and drive. He is a strong shooter from 3-point range and has the ability to shoot a high percentage shot under distress. A confident junior standout who can create his own shot and score quickly. He went for 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 65-46 win over St. Francis.
Tanner Halling, 6’7, F, 2020, St. John
A skilled forward, Halling has good size and a well-rounded skill and uses it to his advantage. He is at his best posting up and has some old school moves in the post and works hard to carve out a path to the basket when he catches it on the block. Halling went for 15 points, three rebounds and four blocked shots and shot 7 for 8 from the field in a 59-38 win over Frankfort.
Chase Wiebe, 6’1, G,2021, Berean Academy
An underrated prospect out of Elbing, Kansas’ Berean Academy, Wiebe is a strong ball handler and shooter who can get to the basket and shoot the ball from distance. He went for 16 points and four assists in a hard fought 38-33 loss to Stockton.
Ethan Means, 6’1, G, 2021, Stockton
A terrific outside shooter for Stockton, Means has good size for a guard at 6’1 and is a strong, all-around athlete who rebounds well, runs the floor and can finish in the lane. He went for 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 38-33 win over Berean Academy.
Jesse Baxter, 6’3, F, 2021, St. Francis
Also a football standout, Baxter went for 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 65-46 loss to Little River. A strong rebounder and defensive player, Baxter is an active player who comes up with a lot of blocked shots.
Xavier Frazier, South Central
Frazier had a big performance in a hard fought 41-38 win over Lebo, scoring 23 points and hauling in 11 rebounds. He was 9 for 14 from the field and 4 for 4 at the free throw line.
