The face up four man played his first three years of high school in Chicago, but decided to complete his last on the national prep school circuit. He ran with the Mac Irvin Fire over the summer in the Nike EYBL. Lewis is at his best when he is using his quickness on the interior getting on the glass, displaying fluid post moves, and showing a mid-range game shooting along with putting it on the deck. We caught up with Lewis to see how the year has gone in Arizona.
“The transition has been really good. I’m happy I made this move and felt like it was the best thing for me to become a better player. Season has been great! We’ve been beating all the top prep school teams.”
How does he feel he has played individually?
“I have been playing great! I’m averaging a double double which I’m doing against a high level of competition. The biggest area that elevated is my wing skills because I can take it on the break or call a pick and roll myself.”
Lewis updated us on his recruitment.
“Recruiting is going good. Just picked up Georgetown offer. Also have been in contact with St. John’s and Oklahoma on the daily, but others have been checking in every other day as well.”
What schools that have offered are pursuing him the hardest?
“New Mexico mainly that’s pretty much it.”
Lewis is looking to start setting up visits later in February. Says he would like to visit Georgetown for sure. They recently picked up a commitment from Chicago Whitney Young’s Tyler Beard. What stands out about the Hoyas?
“The history, the coach, and the list keeps going on.”
How about New Mexico? What does he like about them?
“Just a nice school and I like how their offense goes.”
Lewis chatted with PHI about what he will be looking for in a school.
“If I can see myself for the next four years and will truly develop there.”
How about a timeline for a decision?
“Honestly don’t have one, but the latest I say is mid-spring. Mid-March or early April at the latest.”
Before Lewis moved out of state he was the #7 overall prospect in the state’s senior class and top power forward.
