BEST ATHLETE | BENJAMIN CUNNINGHAM | CCA ’21
Cunningham’s nickname is “The Big Ticket”, and it didn’t take long to see why. Like Kevin Garnett, he wears the #21 and is a terrific athlete. Cunningham impacted the game most with his ability to run the floor and crash the boards.
BEST DEFENDER | AARON CAVEZZA | CCA ’21
Cavezza immediately stood out as a plus defender. The junior forward, who recorded three steals in the first quarter, has quick hands. Cavezza has the size to guard multiple positions and clearly takes pride in his defense.
BEST GLUE GUY | AUSTIN BAILEY | FCS ’22
Bailey took just 4 shots but made a huge impact for his team. Defensively, he was very solid, recording three steals and doing his due diligence on the boards. Bailey took open shots when they were available and converted efficiently from the field as well as the foul line.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | SHAMAR SISCO | CCA ’24
Sisco provided an immediate spark with his long-range shooting. The 8th grader is a smart defender who sells contact but is also reliable with the ball in his hands. Sisco spaces the floor well and uses ball-fakes to keep the defense off-balance.
BEST MOTOR | HAZE GREEN | FCS ’20
Green was a forceful paint presence for his team. The lefty forward was relentless on the boards. Green was aggressive offensively as well. He recorded more foul shot attempts (11) than Christ Chapel’s entire team.
BEST PLAYMAKER | JEVON WILSON | CCA ’21
Wilson recorded a game-high 7 assists to go along with a handful of hockey assists. He is a solid ball-handler who keeps his head up and has the ability to thread the needle and consistently deliver accurate passes.
BEST POST SCORER | BLAKE HALL-TAYLOR | CCA ’20
When the game got close and CCA needed buckets, they threw it into the post to their big man, and he was able to convert at a high rate. Hall-Taylor was effective at sealing his man on the block. He demonstrated good footwork and touch when finishing around the rim.
BEST REBOUNDER | ZACH BOLGERT | FCS ’22
Bolgert did a nice job offensively, but his efforts to clean the glass should not be ignored. He recorded a game-high 9 rebounds to go along with a couple of blocks.
BEST SCORER | TYSHAUN PULLEY | CCA ’21
Pulley was the other go-to scoring option for his team. The downhill-type guard, who got it done on both ends of the floor, was particularly effective in the in-between areas offensively. Pulley shot 7 for 11 from the field, including 2 for 2 from deep, on his way to scoring a game-high 18 points.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
Christ Chapel improves to 9-8 after picking up this win, and their freshman standout Jayden Harris didn’t even play. The Lions are a perennial contender for the state title, so it will be interesting to see how this win can propel them moving forward.
