Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery go out to Chris and his family. In game action Desert Valley Prep unleashed its loaded squad, Legacy showed heart in gutting out a come from behind double OT victory, and Basic survived a talented Silverado squad. In this article PH takes a look at the standouts from week 5.
Kevon Ferguson 6’1 PG Desert Valley Prep 2020 – Welcome to Vegas Kevon. Ferguson is an amazing PG with a tight handle. He understands how to create space off the bounce, and is knock down shooter from 3. When he gets into the lane he has a variety of floaters and under the rim finishes that he uses. In short Ferguson is a bucket and it’s going to be exciting to watch him play this season.
Craig Comanche 6’0 SG LMBA 2021 (#15 PHN 2021) – Comanche was a bully all day. Continuously went through people on his way to the bucket. Must have had 20 deflections today, as he was all over the court on the defensive end. Comanche is a combo, but he showed the ability to break pressure, and create for his teammates.
Fazion Woods 5’11 PG Legacy 2020 – If I’m heading into a street fight, I’m taking Woods. I feel comfortable in saying no player in the city plays harder than the 5’11 PG. Just kept making every correct play for his team. What I like most about him is that he only plays to his strength. You will never find Woods doing something he isn’t good at. Strong driver, elite defender, ultimate competitor. Legacy won a double OT thriller and then battled to the the very end in the a game immediately following.
Dario Domingos 6’7 PF Desert Valley Prep 2020 – It’s clear that DVP is loaded. Dario is a big strong banger with dancer’s feet. Wide body with an array of post moves. He is going to be doubled often, however he’s a high IQ guy and a willing passer. Domingos dominated the boards all day in leading DVP to a victory over Boulder City.
Deyvon Rowe 6’2 SF Basic 2021 – Rowe has one of the most unique skill – sets in in the city. He does not have a basketball build, however he has a basketball game. He handled against pressure, knocked down 3’s, scored in the post and rebounded like a man possessed. Basic has been down for the last few season, however with Rowe, and players like John Board they are going to catch a couple of teams slipping this year.
