We got a chance to see almost everyone at the Expo and here’s a look at some of the other Class of 2020 prospects that we haven’t written about yet (Part 2 of 2):
(listed alphabetically)
Nzube Mekkam (2020 Mountainside) – Mekkam is a good athlete and has a nice wingspan which allows him to be a potential stopper on defense. Offensively, the 6-foot-2 senior made some tough plays getting to the basket. He’ll be a key piece to Mountainside’s emergence this season.
Jayoni Moore (2020 Roosevelt) – Moore is a combo guard that can play either with or off the basketball and he used his well-built 6-foot body to try and get to the basket and absorb contact. He also knocked down some perimeter Js.
Max Morelli (2020 Life Christian) – A transfer from Tigard, there’s no doubt the 6-foot-3 senior will make an immediate impact, especially at the 1A level. He passes the look test with a basketball body and solid athleticism, and showed a decent shot as well.
Connor McClean (2020 Mountainside) – McClean has good size and athleticism at 6-foot-5 which make him a tough matchup on the wing. He was active and aggressive in trying to get to the basket and finish. McClean will have a fresh start at Mountainside for his senior season after previously playing at Southridge.
Justin Scoggin (2020 West Salem) – Scoggin made the jaunt up from Salem to compete and held his own. The 6-foot-3 senior is a combo guard who showed that he could score at different levels as well as set it up for others. Scoggin will be a Mountain Valley League MVP candidate.
Sam Winston (2020 Grant) – The 6-foot senior largely played off the ball so he didn’t get a chance to touch the ball much, but he was active in moving the ball around and getting after it on defense. Grant is pretty guard heavy but it will be interesting to see if Winston can get minutes.
Chris Zakariya (2020 Cleveland) – The West Linn transfer has a solid build at 6-foot and largely played solid team basketball on both ends of the floor. He’ll get a chance to be a major contributor at Cleveland.
