Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
13 Brayden Meseke, 5’11, G, 2022, SSA Elite Black 15U
A tough kid who can stay on his feet through some heavy plays inside. He stays on his line when he leaves the air and is true to his direction. He also has good upper body strength and is aware of his surroundings when he is inside the perimeter.
22-Laython Patillo, 5’7, G, 2021, Olathe North, Team KC 16 U Silver
A nice player who’s quick on his feet and knows how to get an open look. He moves off the ball well, can shoot quickly after the catch and he follows his shot and works inside to collect rebounds. He likes to poke at the ball and can force turnovers and pass ahead to his teammates.
Xavier Hall, 5’10, G, Bishop Miege, Marcus Denmon Elite 15U
Another impressive guard for Marcus Denmon Elite who can handle the ball and get to the basket. He has a nice bounce to his game and has a solid first step. He uses his speed to great success and scores layups because of it. A smart on-ball defender as well.
2 Jaxon Hurla, G, 2022, St. Mary’s SSA Elite Black 15U
A confident shooter who will let it fly from deep. He is comfortable all around the arc and hot shots in the corner wing and even some heavily contested looks against players much taller than him. A good player to keep your eyes on.
21-Howard Johnson, SSA Elite Black 15U
He can shoot and get to the basket. He has smart instincts on the defensive end and moves quickly off of screens and pops out or cuts back inside. He is good at selling contact and can get to the free throw line and connect. A smart player with a solid overall skill set.
