Caleb Love 6’3″ CBC: The multi-talented combo guard led the Cadets to the championship game of the Class 5 state tournament last season. He averaged nearly 20 points a game as a junior. He averaged 13 points and five assists in the Nike EYBL while playing for the Brad Beal Elite 17U while also participating in the USA Basketball Mini-Camp and the Nike Skills Academy. Love is a scorer deluxe with explosive athletic ability and improved playmaking skills. He has narrowed his final list of schools to North Carolina, Kansas, Missouri, Louisville and Indiana.
Rashad Weekly-McDaniel 6’0″ Trinity Catholic: The thick-bodied point guard recently gave a verbal commitment to Central Michigan. He averaged 11 points a game as a junior to help Trinity to a 25-4 record and a berth in the Class 3 state quarterfinals. He is scoring point guard with slick handles and three level scoring ability. He lost 20 pounds over the summer, which helped him have a big grassroots season with the SW IL Jets.
Phillip Russell 5’11” Vashon: The quick sharpshooting point guard recently gave a verbal commitment to Southeast Missouri State. He played a big role in the Wolverines run to the Class 3 state championship in 2019. He had a big postseason, including 25 points in the district championship against Cardinal Ritter, 20 points in the state semifinals against Charleston and 17 points in the state finals against Springfield Catholic. He is a solid ball handler and a tremendous 3-point shooter who can heat up in a hurry.
Kaimen Lennox 6’3″ Truman: An excellent offensive-minded combo guard who has the ability to score at all three levels. Lennox plays at a very fast pace, but he is always under control and can make good decisions with the ball. He can get to the rim with ease or stop on the dime to knock down pull-up jumpers. He is a solid 3-point shooter who will also change speeds and directions to keep defenders guessing. He can also play without the ball with his ability to score on aggressive cuts to the basket. He was a standout on Team KC during the grassroots season.
Jaylen Boyd 6’1″ Ladue: A strong lefty point guard who led the Rams to a third-place finish in the Class 4 state tournament, which was the school’s first ever Final Four berth. Boyd averaged 13.3 points a game to lead a balanced Ladue scoring attack. He is excellent at getting into the lane and changing speeds and directions, but he is also explosive at the rim. He has also improved his 3-point shooting and he loves to have the ball in clutch situations. He has received offers from Division I Louisiana-Monroe and Division II Lindenwood. He had a strong summer for Team Ramey CCM.
Terrell Kabala 6’1″ Webb City: A thick-bodied point guard who also already given a verbal commitment to Arkansas-Fort Smith, Kabala averaged 16 points a game as a junior. He can get buckets at all three levels and can also make explosive plays at the rim. He has strong handles, which enable him to break down defenders to get into the lane for layups and mid-range jumpers. TK is also an excellent defensive player who loves to take charges. He had an excellent summer while playing for Victory Ministry during the grassroots season. He is also an excellent prospect on the football field, but he will play basketball in college.
Maricus Grant 6’2″ Battle: A rock-solid point guard who is one of the best defensive players in the state. He moves his feet to play on-ball defense and his quick hands enable him to strip the ball from opposing ball handlers and unsuspecting post players. In his two years as Battle’s starting point guard, he has led the Spartans to back-to-back Class 5 district championships. His offensive game has continued to improve. He was always good at getting downhill to the basket, but his perimeter shooting showed improvement during the summer.
Tayven Glasgow 6’2″ Lee’s Summit West: The thick-bodied lefty point guard will return to lead a strong LSW team that will be one of the best in the Kansas City area. He is a fundamentally-sound guard who knows how to take care of his teammates with his deft passing and unselfish play. He lost of lot of weight during the summer, which helped his quickness, but he is still is strong enough to play bully-ball on the drive. His improved 3-point shooting was on display throughout the summer for his Team KC squad.
Kobe Campbell 6’0″ Raytown South: A slick ball handling point guard who returns for a Raytown South team that will be one of the state’s best in Class 4 this upcoming season. He is excellent at getting to the basket using both hands and scoring at the rim in a variety of ways. He was a consistent 3-point shooter during the summer, which made him even more difficult to defend. He was excellent during the grassroots season with the Marcus Denmon Elite 17U team.
Dontae Taylor 6’2″ Parkview: A dynamic point guard who really excels at getting to the basket, Taylor loves to attack the rim from the opening tip to the final buzzer. He did a nice job of holding the Parkview team together last season after the loss to All-State forward Tyem Freeman to a season-ending knee injury. Taylor averaged nearly 15 points, four rebounds and five assists while shooting 51 percent from the field as a junior. He had a very productive summer playing for the Missouri Flight 17U.
A.J. Redman 6’0″ St. Joe Central: An explosive point guard who is very good at getting downhill and throwing down a dunk in a halfcourt offense. He is strong and does a good job of staying low on the dribble to play through the contact whether he is going right or left. He does a nice job of finishing in the lane with either hand. He spent the summer playing grassroots basketball with the KC Pacers Blue.
Jalen Perry 5’9″ Liberty North: A pass-first point guard with excellent speed, quickness and very good 3-point shooting ability, Perry led Liberty North to a 17-win season last year. He is very good at distributing the basketball and making sure his teammates eat well, but he can get his own shot with his slick handles, quickness and good escape moves. He can get to the basket or knock down jumpers off the dribble. He played with MoKan 2020 during the summer grassroots season.
