Las Vegas Fab 48 Thursday Standouts
LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Fab 48 resumed on Thursday at Desert Oasis High School, and Vantage Hoops was in the gym to take in the action. There were two intriguing 16U contests on the schedule involving two DMV area teams – Team Takeover EYBL and the Uncommon Bulls. Below, we highlight a few standouts.
C Qudus Abolaji – Uncommon Bulls
Still just a rising sophomore, Qudus Abolaji had moments where he looked like a man among boys. The 7 footer played with a great motor and attempted to dunk everything in the painted area. Defensively, he demonstrated natural shot blocking instincts and quick feet. Abolaji scored 10 points in a very hard fought contest.
PF Bryce Golden – Team Takeover EYBL
Bryce Golden is an absolute stud in the open floor. The 6-foot-9 power forward can get up and down faster than some guards, and absolutely must be accounted for on the offensive glass. Golden is tough, and very crafty around the basket. He recorded a team-high 16 points in a win vs. Pro Skills.
G Langston Gaither – Uncommon Bulls
Defense was Langton Gaither‘s bread and butter on Thursday afternoon. The big, strong guard was active and alert in the passing lanes, and did a nice job on the defensive glass. Gaither often looked to push the ball up the court and attack the basket for quick points. He finished up with 14 points vs. Expressions Elite.
G Myles Jones – Uncommon Bulls
When Myles Jones has his feet set, he doesn’t need much room to get his shot off. When he gets his shot off, it’s more than likely going to go in. The sharpshooting lefty drilled four three pointers on his way to a team-high 16 points vs. Expressions Elite.
G Brandon Slater – Team Takeover EYBL
Brandon Slater seems to get better each time he hits the court. The versatile 6’6″ guard does a nice job finding and distributing the ball to open teammates. Given his improved ball handling skills, length, and big time athleticism, along with his shot making ability, Slater has become a very difficult matchup for most defenders.
PG Tre Wood – Team Takeover EYBL
From end to end, there are simply not many players faster with the ball in their hands than Tre Wood. Wood is a good rebounder for a guard, and whenever he snares one off the glass, he immediately bursts up the court and either dishes to an open teammate, or takes it strong to the basket himself.
