EPE 15U was dominant throughout pool play defeating the Mississippi Hawks, 54-34, the New Orleans Rising Stars, 79-64, and Texas Exclusive Student Athletes, 61-37. EPE was led at the guard spots by 2019s Jordan Wright of Dunham and Norris Williams Jr. of Hannan.
Williams was impressive running the show from the point guard spot while Wright was able to use his size, strength and ball handling to get in the paint and finish. Franklinton 2019 Tylan Pope was the team’s top threat inside as a rebounder and also finished through contact and above the rim on occasion as well.
The Rising Stars got a strong performance from McMain 2018 guard Rashad Jones, who continues to show he’s a legitimate threat from deep. McDonogh 35’s Joe Foucha is a talented two-sport athlete that made a few flashy passes to set up teammates and also stood out with his athleticism on several occasions. Sophie B. Wright 2018 big man Prince Campbell and Salmen 2019 G Dandrick Green both showed they will be prospects to keep an eye on as they develop their games in the coming years.
The Rising Stars kept the score relatively close in the first half trailing 43-32 at the break but EPE pulled away in the last 16 minutes for a big win. Here’s a look at their second matchup of the tournament against the Rising Stars:
