Ethan Taylor – 6’5″ – SG – Spring Branch Memorial (38 Spots) |
I was not too familiar with Taylor coming into the grassroots season; however, I favor what he brings to the table from the swingman position. He hits the outside jumper off the catch, can initiate the offense with his handle on the ball, and is a highlight out in the open floor. The thin and rangy guard has been off to a good start this summer, performing well last weekend at the College Station Great American Shootout.
Antwon Norman – 6’1″ – SG – Houston Yates (37 Spots) |
After watching him play with Houston Yates in the UIL 4A state tournament in March, I was convinced that Norman was definitely the J.R. Smith of Texas high school basketball. Sure he is not 6-foot-6, but he has never seen a shot he did not like and is equally quick east to west as he is fast north to south. Prairie View is the confident scorer’s sole offer to this point.
Jordan Wood – 6’7″ – PF – San Antonio Brennan (33 Spots) |
Wood is a skilled faceup four-man who spaces the floor with his shooting. He also can take advantage of late closeouts and put the ball on the floor to score around the basket. Wood performed his best at the April Great American Shootouts. His productivity this spring has been the reason behind his offers from Incarnate Word and Merrimack.
Valentin Catt – 6’9″ – C – Orangefield (29 Spots) |
A native of Cameroon, Catt came onto the scene as a three-star prospect last year at the Spring Ice Breaker. After not seeing much of him during the high school season, he has returned to the UAA circuit with the Houston Defenders backing up his status as a nationally ranked center. The mobile big man is a reliable rim-protector that has a great motor and tremendous upside.
