“Akron, Toledo and Central Michigan have been in contact with me over the phone. And Kent State has also invited me to their elite camp, as well as Detroit; both of those schools have talked with my coach and said they’re interested, which is exciting,” said Ammerman, who also mentioned Indiana Wesleyan has shown interest.
Still with two full high school seasons and his 17U offseason left to showcase himself, Ammerman says he’s happy with all the initial interest he seen so far.
“Recruitment is definitely in my head all the time, and I’m working to get better at all the facets of my game that I need to work on, especially my defense. But for now I think my recruitment going well for the age I’m at,” he said.
“I know I have a good amount of time left so I try not to think about it too much. My coach always tells me to just play my game and if the college coaches like you they like you , and if they don’t they don’t. I just go out there and play hard.”
A true point guard, Ammerman’s first priority on the floor is to make his teammates better. Aside from that, he mentioned his jumper is a strength of his.
“I would definitely say I pride myself in my ability to help make my teammates better, and to help them make plays,” he said. “I feel like I have a lot of range with my jump-shot and my pull-up jumper has gotten better.”
This offseason he’s been playing with Michigan Gators, and he’s eager to play these last two live period events with his guys.
“We’re not the biggest team but we can spread the floor pretty well and get hot, which is nice. My goal for the next two live periods is to just get as far as we can and try and get as far as we can,” said Ammerman.
“Also I would like to get some more coaches interested in me. I think that would be great.”
