Prep Hoops Circuit – The All Session 9 Team
The Prep Hoops Circuit was in St. Louis last weekend for the Show Me Showdown so today Prep Hoops honors the All Session 9 Team.
Jaylen Boyd of Team Ramey. Boyd was the best player on the best team at the 17u level in the Show Me Showdown. Six games – Six Wins – All by Double Digits. Prep Hoops analysts Scott Burgess described Boyd as “(an) explosive lefty scoring and dishing in paint, a physical lead guard that can shoot it from mid-range and three. Intense lead guard!” Boyd is used to success as he took his team to the state tournament this winter with a team high 12.9 points and 2.6 assists plus 3.5 rebounds a night. Recently visited SIUE.
Sekou Gassama of Gateway. The Prep Hoops Top 250 will be named next week and a name likely to be in the first half of the list is Sekou Gassama, a 6-foot-10 big from the Senegal. LSU, TCU, Saint Louis, and Indiana State have already moved in with scholarship offers and a number of other programs will soon follow suit. Scott Burgess described Gassama this weekend with the following: “such a bright future on both ends of the floor. Shot blocking presence and can score with skill on block”. As a sophomore this winter Gassama Sekou led broke the school record for blocks, led the conference in rebounding and shot 72.7 percent from the floor.
Yaya Keita of Gateway. Keita – a 6-foot-9 2021 big from Mali – is the high school (DeSmet HS) and Grassroots teammate of Gassama, and they make a nasty pair. Keita is a top 150 level player nationally with scholarship offers from Iowa and Saint Louis at this point. Yaya and Sekou are both playing up and they were able to lead the Gateway 17s to the championship game. Pick and Roll monster with big numbers in putbacks all weekend.
Pee Wee Brown of Peoria Area Elite. We have a repeat performer! Pee Wee Brown of Peoria Area Elite is on the Prep Hoops Circuit team back to back weeks after leading his team to a 9-1 record combined in Indianapolis and Saint Louis. Nobody could stop Brown’s attack to the rim in either location. Averaged 17.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists for his junior season.
Gavyn Elkamil of Carroll Go L1ve. Gavyn is a big lead guard from the 2021 class from Pittsburg, Kansas who pushed his 17s team a one-loss weekend. Gavyn already has D1 offers from UMKC, Southeast Missouri State, and Southern Miss, and with more weekends like the Show Me Showdown, Gavyn is going to hit that double figure option list sooner than later. Had the game of the event when he hit nine threes on his way to 40 points plus 13 rebounds and four assists.
