LAWRENCE, Kan. — The annual KC Classic saw some of the top grassroots teams from around the state of Kansas, Kansas City and the region meet at the Kansas Pavilion in Lawrence and the event drew several top performers.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the events top point guards in the 16U division.
1-Kaleb Gaddis 5’11, 2021, Andover, NLHA 16 HAYS
A point guard who can makes good use with his time on the floor as a facilitator who occasionally looks to score. He has confidence with the ball and plays downhill well. He also moves off the ball and is great at rubbing shoulder with the screeners. A timely player who puts the ball in the hands of his teammates.
25-Rylee Beach, 5’9, 2021, Tonganoxie, PAC Gold 16U
A scrappy player who knows how to come up big. Beach has a clean shot from deep and a knack for knocking down shots in the mid-range area. Beach plays big and is strong for his size and can pull down some rebounds.
51-Quentin Mason, 5’11, 2021, Olathe North, KC Premiere Blue Chips
A smaller guard who plays off the ball a lot and looks to score. He moves off screens and shoots quickly after the catch. He is also good at running the floor and slashing inside and selling contact as he goes up to score.
3-Brent Showalter, 5’11, 2021, Shawnee Heights, Kansas Cagers
A nice guard who plays larger than his listed height. He fights for the ball and can back opponents down and score underneath the basket. He shoots well and his think frame can handle pressure and physical play.
5-Dylan Wolf, 6’0, 2021, Topeka West, Kansas Hoggs 16U
A strong guard with good handles and a clean shot. He’s smaller than several of the guards he defends, but he works hard and plays well as a slasher and spot up shooter from the corner. He’s a fluid guard. One who is fine defending a forward down low on the block. He can always poke the ball away or set his feet for a charge.
