Two Arizona teams are representing the great state of Arizona, below is a break down of both of those teams.
PowerHouse Hoops Arizona 17u Black-
Headed into Atlanta this week PowerHouse Hoops 17u Black is coming in fully loaded with a stacked Arizona roster who is looking to make a splash for Arizona. Leading the way is Vanderbilt commit Saben Lee, & San Jose State commit Noah Baumann. This past weekend they went 1-2 at the WCE Ryan Silver event in California. They were led by rising 2017’s prospect from Chaparral High School Colten Kresl & Desert Ridge High School’s Billy Jordan. Both of these young man put on a big time performance. Kresl has shown his fearlessness & shooting ability. Jordan has shown his pure athleticism & motor a long with his skills as a forward. Adding Saben & Noah to the mix will make them a full fledged squad that will be able to do some damage.
PowerHouse Hoops 16u Black-
This PowerHouse 16u team is one of the bigger teams in Arizona. They have very strong post play with Chris Orozco & Jaxson Baker. Orozco proved during the high school season that he is relentless rebounder and showed it last weekend at the Silver event as well. Baker has continued to impress, adding a offer from Northern Arizona while Jok Jok is a lengthy forward that has the ability to get out and make plays while running the wing in transition while Rashaad Smith can fill it up from the perimeter. This team’s size and length should cause a lot of issues on both ends of the floor Look for them to cause some noise in Atlanta.
Alvin Gentry Elite-
The other team heading into Atlanta is the 16u squad Alvin Gentry Elite. His AAU squad features some of Arizona’s top 2018 & 2019 prospects that are out there to offer. They recently added Mason Johnson who plays at Pinnacle High School, & they have Scottsdale Christian Academy guard Reed Myers who is a very sharp high academic basketball IQ point guard. Rising 2018 prospect is from Saguaro High School in Jared Martin. Martin’s stock as a guard is rising, he passes the eye test, has a true basketball players body frame, and is sharpshooting from outside. Sadly they will be missing Scottsdale Christian post Ethan Spry. However look for Basha forward Brennen Davis to fill the void, he crashes the glass hard and can play inside & out. He has a very high motor and impressed coaches/scouts over the weekend. Over the weekend at the Mullen’s event in Kansas City the team went 3-2, look for them to build on that weekend in Atlanta.
