He led the Nike EYBL through the first session in assists. Watson has embraced his role as a pass first point guard that likes to set everyone up along with being a force on the defensive end with his intensity creating turnovers. He talked about the experience playing EYBL at the 17U level.
“It was better than we did last year to be 3-1. It is a good feeling with a lot of coaches there so we wanted to play hard and came out on top.”
Watson has embraced being a pass first point guard dishing the rock to his highly ranked teammates.
“That is my mindset. Me being a small guard at 6’0” with other big names on the team I try to get them the ball and do whatever it takes to win the game.”
Watson’s recruitment is starting to heat up!
“I recently got offers from Illinois and Wisconsin Green Bay. I have heard from Dayton, Arizona State, and Michigan.”
What does he like about Illinois?
“They treat their guards well. My teammate Ayo (Dosunmu) went there and he is building a legacy. It would be fun to join him.”
Green Bay is a school that he plans on taking a visit to soon.
“Keifer Sykes and Alfonzo McKinnie went there so that is a pretty decent school.”
