The Mac Irvin Fire 17U wing can score with effectiveness from all three levels. Burst off the bounce with explosion to the hoop. Three point shot has become a go to weapon for him knocking them down at a high clip this spring.
Weston is happy to be back on the floor after missing the high school season because of a transfer.
“It has been really good to play with my peers. It kind of hurt to just watch this season at Morgan Park. It feels good to get back out there and show people what I can do. It was fun my first time playing 17U in the EYBL was a great experience. Just to see all the competition and great guys out there.”
Where has he been really focusing on his game the most over the last year when no one was watching?
“I have really improved on my ball handling and shooting. That is one of the things I have really worked on. Being a ball handler and get my teammates in the right place.”
He updated us on his recruitment heading after the live period.
“I have an offer from Wake Forest. I have interest from Syracuse, Georgetown, and Louisville came to my open gym. Also Missouri.”
Currently he holds three offers from Wake Forest, UMass, and Chicago State. What stands out about Wake Forest?
“They are a really good program with a legendary coach that can really push you to get there.”
Since this upcoming season will be his fourth year of high school ball Weston could reclassify back to his original 2020 class and go to college if he decides. Is that on the table?
“Yes by the end of my junior year if I feel like I am ready to go to college and there is no need to do my senior year I will just reclassify up and go to college.”
Weston has not for sure decided either way yet and will just wait to see how the travel team and high school seasons go before making that call. He currently sets at #3 overall in the 2021 PHI Rankings.
