He is a 6’1″ combo guard from Summit Academy. During his freshman campaign, he averaged 32.5 ppg 7 rpg, 4 apg, and 4 spg.
Lovejoy is an extremely talented young basketball player. He is a scorer at heart. Lovejoy can score in a variety of ways and can create his own opportunities. He is a high IQ player that has a keen understanding for the ebbs and flows of the game. This allows him to keep his mental mistakes to a minimum. Lovejoy plays the game with a passion, showing heart and toughness every moment he’s on the court.
Lovejoy is using the high school offseason as a chance to train and improve. He isn’t playing grassroots basketball so his focus is on developing his individual game. He wants to be prepared to become more of a leader next season. Lovejoy is working to become a true 3 level scorer. He’s specifically focused on his speed and athleticism.
Orlando Lovejoy is an experienced player, especially for his age. He considers scoring 39 points in his first official high school game, his best moment in basketball so far. Lovejoy is looking forward to playing in the DC Elite Summer League with his school this summer.
Lovejoy is driven by his goals. He wants his Summit Academy team to have a winning season, win districts and regionals, then bring home a state championship. None of these have been ever been done at his school before. Lovejoy hopes to reach the 1000 point mark during his sophomore season. In the long term, he hopes to earn a multiple scholarship offers and be a McDonald’s All-American.
Orlando Lovejoy has a lot to offer a program at the next level. Obviously, his skill set is elite and the heart he plays with is contagious. A college program would be getting a well rounded and intelligent person as well. In fact, Lovejoy enjoys playing online chess tournaments when he’s not on the basketball court. He will be an extremely highly valued recruit as his basketball career continues.
