Williams, a 6-foot-7 forward from Dover-Eyota, is playing with Fury Zurn this summer and standing out on a team stocked full of standouts.
“I think my role will be a lot of rebounding, defending, providing that energy and hustle kind of plays,” said Williams. “We have a ton of talent on this team. It’s going to be really fun.”
Williams has been a double-double type guy for the Eagles for a few years. He’s explosive, athletic, strong and smart.
Williams excels when he’s attacking the rim either from the wing or the mid-post area on the floor. His athleticism allows him to flourish in transition and as a cutter or rim runner off the ball. His length, quickness and strength allow him to defend up and down a lineup effectively as well and he’s a terrific out-of-area rebounder.
Williams may be a bit under-the-radar for those unfamiliar with hoops outside the metro area but he’s hardly an unknown to coaches at the next level. He’s drawing a lot of college interest to play basketball and football (where he’s a solid quarterback prospect).
“A lot of the NSIC schools have talked to me,” said Williams. “I’ve also gotten some interest to play football so that’s an option still as well.”
