BEST BREAKOUT PERFORMER | RYAN CONWAY | 6’1 G | TEAM MELO/DULANEY (MD) ‘21
After helping his team advance to the state final four, Ryan Conway headed into the spring with a ton of momentum, and that carried over to EYBL Atlanta where he was outstanding. Conway finished as a top-15 scorer in the league. He scored efficiently both from the field and the foul line. Conway also showed that he can defend at a high level both on and off the ball. One would expect his recruitment to significantly expand moving forward.
BEST HEAT CHECK GUY | DIMINGUS STEVENS | 6’5 G | TEAM TAKEOVER/WILSON ‘20
Is there anyone in the local 2020 class that can score in bunches like Dimingus Stevens? Probably not. Stevens is a nightmare to guard because he can his feet and pull up on a dime in no time. His shot has a quick release and a high arc. If you are not careful, he will sell contact and draw fouls. Stevens has great touch, so it’s not ideal if you allow him to rack up free throw attempts.
BEST MOTOR | AMINU MOHAMMED | 6’5 G/F | BOO WILLIAMS/GREENWOOD LAB (MO) ‘21
Boo Williams has arguably the most talented starting 5 on the EYBL, but what separated Aminu Mohammed from the rest was his unrelenting motor. Mohammed was a consistent double-double threat as a result of his combination of length, athleticism, willingness to mix it up in the paint, and quick reactions. He’s a nightmare to box out and can wreck a game plan if you don’t account for him on the glass.
BEST REBOUNDER | JUSTIN LEWIS | 6’7 F | TEAM MELO/POLY (MD) ‘20
In a league filled with towering 7-footers, none collected more rebounds than 6-foot-7 Justin Lewis of Team Melo. Lewis reportedly has an astounding 7-foot-4 wingspan, which in conjunction with his strength and improved effort makes him a major force on the boards. Lewis averaged 12.5 rebounds per game and pulled down his personal best of 19 vs. MEBO.
BEST SHOOTER | GABE DORSEY | 6’4 G/F | TEAM DURANT/HILL (PA) ‘21
It seems that every time we see Gabe Dorsey, he shoots it well. After hitting a school record 75 threes during a productive sophomore year at Hill School, Dorsey appears set for a major uptick in recruitment after drilling his first four attempts from NBA range in a big-time matchup vs. Team Takeover. Dorsey can catch and shoot with the best of them. He is a lefty who moves continuously without the ball, sets his feet quickly and the elevation he gets allows him to hit difficult shots.
BEST STOCK RISER | IKE CORNISH | 6’6 G/F | TEAM MELO/LEGACY (SC) ‘21
Ike Cornish did a bit of everything for Team Melo this past weekend. He attacked the boards on both ends, fought for every 50/50 ball, and racked up deflections on the defensive side. Cornish is a tough matchup offensively when you consider his blend of size and skill. He’s becoming a knock down shooter and knows how to attack closeouts once you try to take his shot away.
