Cooley is coming off a very good senior season and remains in the conversation for most slept on guard in the DMV. He recently spoke with Prep Hoops about his overall game, recruitment, and much more.
PH: How would you evaluate the team performance this morning?
RC: “We could’ve played a lot better. We played a little bit relaxed. I guess we felt like we had the upper hand the whole game so we played relaxed. We got Pittsburgh next weekend so we gotta do a better job of being more of a team. Playing like we know we can play.”
PH: How would you describe your overall game for those who haven’t seen you play?
RC: “An aggressive combo guard who can attack the rim, shoot the ball and find teammates.”
PH: Who do you model your game after?
RC: “Probably Russell Westbrook.”
PH: What’s underrated about your game?
RC: “Probably my passing ability. I know how to put my teammates in the best positions to score.”
PH: What areas of your game have you improved on recently?
RC: “Probably mid range game, stop and pop, floaters.”
PH: What do you need to work on?
RC: “Becoming a better point guard overall. Recognizing mismatches and things like that.”
PH: How are your grades?
RC: “I have a 3.3 GPA, and I got a 22 on the ACT.”
PH: Where does your recruitment stand right now?
RC: “I’m getting a lot of D2’s, a few D3’s.”
PH: Which schools are standing out in your recruitment?
RC: “Catawba and Mansfield.”
PH: What are your goals this spring?
RC: “I just want to perform enough for coaches to notice me. I feel like I can be a valuable asset on a college team next year.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
RC: “Aggressiveness, energy, defense.”
