Jaden Monday, SSA Elite Black, Van Horn HS (MO), 17U
-Jaden caught my eye due to his range of shots this weekend. The shots from three, the dribble drives and the ball control are all reasons why I think Jaden can play at the next level. His team played extremely well in the Spring Prep Hoops Kickoff and he’s a large part of that success. I’m looking forward to the big numbers he’s going to come up with this summer.
Luke Hladky, GTOWN, Campbell County HS (WY), 17U
-Luke had a motor up and down the court that I couldn’t stop watching this weekend. Not the tallest player in the world at 5’8 but not afraid to drive the lane and get the contact for the foul. Defensively, just as fundamentally sound as on offensive. His stamina is off the charts and I look forward to seeing it in more of his games this summer.
Talon Valdes, Salt Lake Bounce, Juan Diego Catholic (UT), 16U
-The offensive MVP of the Salt Lake Bounce this weekend was Talen Valdes (also according to Twitter). His ability to accelerate was what stuck out to me. A good mix of offense and defense are the asset to Valdes’s game and his presence up and down the court is well noticed.
Chaun Davis, Gamepoint Inland, Foothill HS (CA), 16U
-Davis has a great amount of flex to his game. He can drive the lane and finish, shoot clutch threes, and play in your face defense. Won a state championship last year, so knows how to play with the game on the line. In 16U, Davis is well ahead of the bell curve to play at the next level.
Aiden Peterson, Team Wyoming 2024 (WY), 13U
-Peterson looked like a man among boys this weekend. At already 6’0, he gave Team Wyoming 2024 a great inside presence especially this weekend in the Prep Hoops Spring Kickoff. What stood out in his game to me was his hard screens and rebounding ability. He is my big man to watch in 13U on the grassroots circuit this summer.
