You have a couple of unsigned senior point guards that will make a great fit for a lot of programs and I took the time out to break down each of their games. The state of Missouri has always had some of the most underrated players who make their mark with college programs. Here are a few PGs to keep an eye on in the unsigned senior waiver wire.
Williamson is a player who should receive a lot of JUCO interest at this stage. His game is built for that level and he’d excel at a top program in Missouri, Illinois, or Kansas against some of the best competition. He has the second gear of speed you need to play in the open floor and has become a reliable three point shooter. He’s a pure hooper that has as much raw talent as anybody on this list. His career at NMCC was memorable and he can make his mark on a program at the next level.
Bonaparte is going to make a coach at the next level happy because of his ability to impact on defense. He’s a ball stopper that combines quickness and instincts to change games. On-ball defense is an area he can impact immediately. He has a special ability to time opposing guards and swoop in for steals. That was one of his calling cards for Hickman this past season. Scoring in bunches, especially via transition, was one of the ways he touched double figures on numerous occasions in 23-24′.
Dunlap is the most consistent prospect on this list. He has two years of accolades, awards, and efficient play under his belt. Currently holding a Division 2 offer, he’s a high IQ competitor that will be a program guy in due time. Shooting, passing, and wanting to compete on the defensive end are three things he does well. Dunlap has won a ton of games and is well liked by teammates + coaches alike. Four year coaches can use a PG like him.
Long fits the mold of that explosive combo guard. He has sudden burst, can make defenders lean to a side, and finds his spots to attack. Defense has always been a calling card for him. He’s tougher than one might expect looking at his stature as well. A two-way guard who knows what it takes to win at the end of the day. He’ll score and defend the length of the floor. Regional schools should look at Long for backcourt help next season.
Thomas might be the best passer on this list. A PG who’s never rushed and makes the correct play. Ball screen heavy offenses will see value in him as a player. He knows how to use screens at a high level and let plays develop. Thomas has been competing at a high level for quite some time. He’s built to compete at a regional program from Day 1. Having lead guards who make smart plays is always an asset to any coach.
